Letter to the Editor

The 10th Annual Westborough Education Foundation Trivia Bee and Raffle was a big success!  Thirty-six enthusiastic teams, sponsored by local businesses, corporations, civic organizations, parent groups and sports teams competed for the trophy and community bragging rights!  It was a fun evening of trivia, music, food and raffles.  This event, WEF’s largest fundraiser, requires a great deal of time and energy by individuals who are committed to the Foundation and to the education of the children in this community.  We offer our thanks to the many organizations, sponsors and volunteers that made it possible.   Thank you to the Doubletree Hotel, Curry Printing, BJ’s, Roche Bros., Stop & Shop, Wegman’s and Wilkinson’s Hi Hill Farm.  John Arnold, our Town Moderator, Tim Koehler, Karen Henderson & Westborough TV, Westborough Library Director Maureen Ambrosino, Retired Superintendent of Schools Marianne O’Connor and Police Chief Alan Gordon, and Molly Lane played vital roles in making this event a success. Thank you to the Westborough Robotics Team, RedShift 4048 for the robot demo and Westborough High School’s Best Buddies for sharing their story.  We thank the WHS Honors String Quartet for providing music and Don’t Panic A Cappella Ensemble for singing the National Anthem.  Audio-visual support was courtesy of Steve Masciarelli and the Ranger Tech Squad of Westborough High School.  The Bee would not happen without all of our volunteers and their expertise.

The Westborough Education Foundation strives to engage the community in supporting the Westborough Public Schools.  Through the very generous support of parents and corporate donors, WEF supports our schools in its mission to invest in educational excellence and ensure our teachers have the resources to inspire and prepare students for success.  Special thanks to our generous trivia team sponsors and raffle donors.

All proceeds from the Trivia Bee are used to fund our grant program in the Westborough Public Schools. Through these efforts, we have provided over $375,000 in grants over the course of our 20 year history.  The WEF supports academic programs in math, science, literacy, the arts, technology, history, and physical education at all levels of education.  These grants allow teachers and administrators to develop and implement innovative programs that are not covered by the regular school budget.  Your support allows us to continue to fund these grants.

Thank you to everyone who supports the Westborough Education Foundation.
